Game 2 2009-10 Claxton Shield Grand Final

This is a special podcast of Game 2 of the  2009-10 Dominos Claxton Shield. This is the 2nd game of a best of 3 series.

This game sees the Victorian Aces up against the South Australian Bite. The Aces won the 1st game of the playoff series 5-3 and are looking to wrap things up with another win tonight.

The game is again being played at the home ground of the Preston Baseball Club, La Trobe University Baseball Field in Bundoora, Victoria

Game 1 2009-10 Claxton Shield Grand Final

This is a special podcast of Game 1 of the  2009-10 Dominos Claxton Shield. This is the best of three series.

This game sees the Victorian Aces up against the South Australian Bite. The Aces headed the ladder at the end of the home and away part of the season and South Australia reached here by defeating the NSW Patriots 2 games to 1 in the semi final series.

The game is being played at the home ground of the Preston Baseball Club, Latrobe University Baseball Field in Bundoora, Victoria

Baseball Radio 2009-10 Episode 12

With frita unavailable, skinny was joined behind the microphone by Benny Bartlett of the Springvale Lions.

First off the boys caught up with Qld Rams Manager David Nilsson. This week the Rams are up against the Vic Aces at Holloway Field in Brisbane. The Rams have had a slow start to the season and are currently sitting at the wrong end of the ladder. David said the Rams have had to go with a younger squad than usual after several of the veterans have made themselves unavailable.

Next up the boys gave an in-depth wrap of last weeks Claxton action and stats for the season to date.

Next up the boys discussed the “Name Your Team” competition that has been recently launched by the ABL. The competition gives all baseball followers the chance to suggest a name for their states ABL team. The boys were then joined online by Morrabin’s Dom McNulty as they discussed the latest signings and trades in MLB off-season.

Next up the boys caught up with Paul Hyham from Newcastle. Paul was recently named as the IABF’s Umpire of the year for 2009. Some of the events Paul plated included the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the 2009 World Baseball Classic.

Rounding off the night the boys caught up with the General Manager of the Barbagallo Perth Heat, Shane Tonkin. The Heat are currently sitting in 2nd spot on the ladder, just a half a game behind South Australia heading into the Xmas break. Shane gave his thoughts on how he sees next seasons official launch of the revamped Claxton Shield series playing out.

Baseball Radio 2009-10 Episode 11

Welcome to the weekly wrap up of all MLB and Australian Baseball news.

First up up the boys caught up Perth Heat manager Don Kyle. This weekend sees the Barbagello Perth Heat up against the Qld Rams at Baseball Park in Perth. Don gave a rundown on how the Heat are traveling. Don told the boys the injury’s and unavailability have had a huge impact on the team results to this stage of the season.

Next up the boys caught up the manager of the NSW Patriots Glen Williams. The Patriots are this week playing host to the Sth Australia Bite and BOP Blacktown.

Next up the boys gave an in-depth wrap of last weeks Claxton action which saw the Aces defeating the Patriots 2 games to 1 and also the Sth Aust Bite taking 2 of the 3 games from the Perth Heat.

Next up the boys caught up with Justin Huber. Justin has just recently been signed by the Hiroshima Carp of the Japanese League to play the 2010 season. After having limited opportunities with the Twins this season he is looking forward to holding down a regular spot in the Carp’s lineup.

Rounding off the night the boys caught up with Australian coach Jon Deeble. Jon was live from the “Big Baseball Bash” being held at the Tower Hotel in Camberwell in Victoria. Jon was able to hose down the rumour story going around that Boston will be playing games in NSW in 2010. On a positive note Jon mentioned that Australia is in the running to host a round of the next World Baseball Classic and also of the possibility of the MLB All Star team playing an Australian All Star team in late 2010.

Baseball Radio 2009-10 Episode 10

Tony gave a rundown on how the Bite are traveling and what are the changes to this years team that now see’s them sitting at the top of the current ladder. Tony also comments about the games this season at Norwood Oval and how they are being well received by the public in Adelaide. This weeks games see’s the Sth Aust Bite play host to the Barbagello Perth Heat.

Next up the boys caught up Victoria Aces coach Phil Dale. This week the Aces play host to the NSW Patriots at Latrobe Uni on Friday night and a double header at Geelong on the Saturday.

Special Interview MLBi’s Peter Wermuth on Triple H fm

Baseball Radio is pleased to present a special interview that was held following the 3rd Claxton Shield game of the Aces Vs Patriots series held at BOP in Blacktown on the 28th of Nov.

The interview was conducted by the presenters of Triple H 100.1 fm with Peter Wermuth.

Peter is the MLB International Development Manager and he is the representative that is in charge of getting the new ABL competition of the ground.

The interview touched all on all subjects to do with getting the competition off the ground and it emphasized the importance that MLB is placing on getting this competition up and running.

I recommend this as a must listen as all the questions floating around are answered.

Baseball Radio 2009-10 Episode 9

Baseball Radio 2009-10 Episode 8

Next up the boys played an interview of Graeme Lloyd. The interview was recorded before the Aces vs Heat game that took place in Geelong. The night was officially called the Graeme Lloyd appreciation night and juniors in attendance received a signed Graeme Lloyd New York Yankees cap. The interviewer was the Heats GM Shane Tonkin.

Next up the boys caught up with Australian Coach Jon Deeble. Jon discussed in depth each of the states form in the early series of Claxton games.

The boys then played the highlight reel of the MLB World Series with the New York Yankees wrapping up their 27th World Series win.

Next up the boys caught up with Gary McCoy. Gary is the Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Australian Baseball team and is also on the Florida Marlins AAA team coaching staff. Gary gave a rundown on what his position is and he discussed some of the players he has been working with. Next up the boys spoke with the South Australian ABL GM, Pat Kelly. Pat announced the this year that SA will be playing their games at Norwood Oval. Norwood Oval is undergoing an extensive makeover to make sure it complies with ABL standard. Being an ex Yankee the boys also discussed the outcome of the World Series.

Rounding of the show the boys caught up live with the Barbagello Perth Heat GM, Shane Tonkin, direct from the action at Geelong. Shane gave a quick run down on how the Perth Heat pre-season progress has been going.
