Baseball Radio Episode 48

Welcome to the weekly wrapup of all Victorian Baseball news.

This week James and Frita caught-up with Australian and Sunshine Eagles player Greg Whiltshire. Greg has just returned from an outstanding season with the El Paso Diablos where he was named as starting pitcher in the All Star game. After finishing his season with the Diablos he then went on to the USA where he had a tryout session with the Philadelphia Phillies.

As always, the show also covered all the latest baseball news from home and abroad.

Baseball Radio Episode 47

Welcome to the weekly wrapup of all Victorian Baseball news.

This week James and Frita caught-up with Springvale and Waverley Reds legend Rob Hogan. Rob joined the boys live in the studio and they discussed his career to-date.

The boys also got the scoop that Travis Blackley was today called up to the majors by the San Francisco Giants. Travis’s father Lance called into the show to give the boys the latest news. Travis is expected to throw against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday the 23rd (USA Time). This is Travis’s second stint in the majors after earlier playing for the Seattle Mariners with whom he had his first stint in the majors as a 21 year old in 2004.

Rounding off the show the boys were also able to catch up with Adam Bright. This season Adam has spent most of his time with the AA Tulsa Drillers of the Colorado organization.

Welcome to the weekly wrapup of all Victorian Baseball news.

This week the James and Frita caught-up with ABF President Geoff Pearce. Geoff was currently in Brisbane where he has been meeting with representatives of the Nippon Professional Baseball League and he announced that an agreement has been signed that will see a series of games between the Japanese and Australian national teams. The matches will be played in Japan in November and it hoped that it will be a yearly event.

Geoff also spoke about the status of talks between the ABF and MLB with regards to the proposed National League and also discussed the new appointment of John May as CEO of the ABF and the busy schedule of the year ahead.

This week James and Frita caught-up with Sturt Baseball Club President Phil Robinson. Sturt have recently been banned from using their home ground by the South Australian Mitcham City Council. The order was made following complaints by local residents and the same circumstances could effect all baseball clubs at some stage.
