Welcome to the weekly wrap up of all MLB and Australian Baseball news.

First off the boys played their Bowens interview of the week that they had recorded earlier in the day with Australian Coach Jon Deeble. The boys spoke with Jon shortly after the WBC warmup game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Jon gave a run down on what has been happening with the team since the team arrived in Arizona. You can keep up with whats happening in the Aussie camp as Jon has been gracious to keep posting entries in the Baseball Radio Forum under the title “Deebs WBC Diaries” at  Baseball Radio National Forum

Next up the boys caught up with recent Oakland Athletics signing, Oliver Box. Oliver is currently a catcher for the Werribee Giants and he mentioned that he signed the contract on his 18th birthday. Signed as a free agent, Oliver will be heading over to the States in early April to start his professional career.

Rounding of the show the boys announced the winner of the 2nd drawing of the Print Factory T-Shirt competition. I’m happy to announce that Rob Printz of the Pakenham Pumas is the winner. Rob is the President of the Pakenham Pumas and speaking on the radio he mentioned that this is a great thing for his club. The club has had its struggles over the past few years but now is on the recovery road with good junior numbers now coming on board. Rob mentioned that T-Shirts will put to good use and they will go to the their T-Ball competition that will be kicking of this year. Welcome to the weekly wrap up of all MLB and Australian Baseball news.

Kicking off the show the boys made special mention that this is a milestone episode. This show is the 100th Friday night show and as the show progressed they made mention of people that have helped us achieve this milestone. The 1st Friday night episode went to air on the 6th of Oct in 2006. The show was the brainchild of James Watson, Craig Kernick and the Baseball Victoria CEO at the time, Steve Walker.

First off the boys played the Bowens interview of the week that they had recorded earlier  with Aussie former Major League player Glen Williams. In 1993 as a 16-year old Glenn signed a lucrative free agent contract with the Atlanta Braves for an estimated 1.3 million Australian dollars. Since that time Glenn has played baseball for the Minor League affiliates of the Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins. After spending over 10-years in the Minor Leagues Glenn made his Major League debut with the Minnesota Twins during the 2005 season. This is a must listen.

Next up the boys discussed the recent Australia Vs Chinese Taipei and the form of the Aussies heading to the World Baseball Classic.

Rounding off the show the boys briefly caught up James Watson just prior to him flying out to South Africa. The boys discussed some of their highlights on air since they launched Baseball Radio National in 2006.

With frita in Perth for the live broadcast of Game 1 of the Claxton Shield Final, skinny was this week joined in the studio by Ben Bartlett of the Springvale Lions.

First off the boys caught up with the coach of the NSW Patriots, Shane Barclay. Shane gave us a run down of Patriots path to reach the Grand Final and an insight in to the team selections and his thoughts on how he sees the Patriots chances in the 3 game series. In a major surprise Shane announced that Trent Oeltjen was not in the squad for the finals.

Next up the boys caught up with the coach of the Barbagello Perth Heat, Don Kyle. The Heat were clear leaders at the end of the home and away part of the series and a result of this they were automatically seeded into the Grand Final. Rounding off the show the boys caught up with Rod Drew. Rod is the Manager of the WA U14 team that won the ABF U14 finals. WA had a comprehensive 17 - 4 win over Victoria. Rod gave us in insight into the junior talent pool that is currently progressing thru the ranks in WA. This was the 2nd year running that WA have taken the title.

First off the boys played the Bowens interview of the week that they had with Patriots pitcher Richard Thompson. The boys caught up with Richard during the recent Aces Vs Patriots game. Richard is one of the elite Australian players who have reached the Major League level. Currently a reliever for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Richard was also a member of the Aussie team that picked up an Olympic silver medal.

Next up the boys caught up with the ABF’s Ben Foster. Ben is the National Programs Co-ordinator and he enlightened us with the latest happenings to do with the upcoming Claxton Shield Final in Perth. Rounding off the show the boys played interviews that they had recorded following the naming of the Victorian All-Star 75yr Claxton Shield team. The boys spoke with Brett Ward (named at Right Field) and also the legendary Graeme Lloyd (Pitcher). Baseball Radio congratulates all players that have been selected in their respective states All-Star team.

Also the great news was announced by frita that Baseball Radio will be broadcasting the Claxton final live from Perth on the 6th, 7th and 8th of Feb. Perth will be taking on the winner of the current Semi-Final between the Aces and Patriots.
