<p>First off this week the boys let all the listeners know that Baseball Radio will be taking a well earnt break from the air. Baseball Radio has been on the air weekly since the 2nd Oct 2006 and in that time there has been 83 weekly episodes plus 12 live outside broadcasts.</p>

<p>Kicking off this weeks show the boys did a run of who&#8217;s hot of the Aussies in the MLB. Players that got special mention were Grant Balfour (Tampa Bay Rays) and Ryan Rowland-Smith (Seattle Mariners).</p>
<p>Next up the boys replayed an interview of Phil Dale. This interview was originally aired in late 2006. Phil is the Australian team pitching coach and also the aussie based scout of the Atlanta Braves. In breaking news Baseball Radio informed listeners that Phil along with David Clarkson will be coaching the Waverley Wildcats in the BV Div 1 competition in 2008-9.</p>
<p>As always, the show included the “Coach’s Rant” and the “Wood Duck” award and also covered all the latest baseball news from home and a wrap of this weeks Major League matches.</p>
<p>Rounding of the show the boys the boys played a highlights package of this years Claxton Shield Finals where the Perth Heat dominated the NSW Patriots wrapping the series up 2 games to nil.</p>

<p>First off this week the boys caught up with Queensland correspondent Michael O&#8217;Donnell. Michael announced that Baseball Queensland has appointed Peter Yates as Claxton Shield coach for the 2008/2009 representative season. Peter has had a distinguished playing history for Queensland and Australia and played in the National League for 8 years and also coached in the Japanese Industrial League and was Assistant Coach with the Queensland Rams Senior team in 1999,2003 and 2007.</p>
<p>Next up the boys caught up with Greg Giffen. Greg is the head coach of the Sydney’s Hills North Little League team that defeated Adelaide Southern to win the inaugural Australian Little League Championship. Hills North will now represent Australia in Hong Kong at the Asia Pacific Championships in July.</p>
<p>Rounding of the show the boys caught up with Brent Phelan. Brent was recently appointed as head coach of the Baseball program at the ACT Academy of Sport and he is also the aussie based scout for the Chicago Cubs.</p>

Frita travelled to Darwin to do some fishing and whilst there he has also caught up the the action at the Australian Provincial Championships that are being held at Tracey Village. Frita gave a rundown of the games details to date and this was followed up when he also put Victorian Provincial player Scott Moore on the phone to give his view of the championships to date. Phil spoke of the recent signing of the Rockies latest Aussie recruit, 17 yr old NSW outfielder David Kandilas. <p>First off Baseball Radio caught up with Simone Wearne. Simone was an integral member of the Gold Medal winning Victorians who won this years Australian Womens championships that was held recently in Wollongong NSW.</p>
<p>Next up, the boys caught up with Secretary General of the International Baseball Federation Mr John Ostermeyer. In a wide ranging interview John spoke on issues such as Australia&#8217;s performance at the recent Olympic Quailifying in Taiwan and the difficulties they faced in not being able to call on players on the MLB rosters, the 2009 World Baseball Classic, the newly released program of the IBAF &#8220;I am Baseball&#8221; and also the various projects that the IBAF is currently undertaking around the world.</p>
<p>Rounding off the show the boys were able to catch up Phil Balzer. Phil is the coach of the Victorian U14 team that will be playing in the upcoming championships which are being hosted by the Cheltenham Baseball Club in Victoria. The U14 Championship was originally abandoned due to the monsoon weather that swept thru the Lismore, NSW area in January. A groundswell of positive people got together and as a result of their efforts plus the magnificent gesture of Bob Jane T-Marts, the players now have the chance to represent their states in what will be known as the BOB JANE T-MARTS UNDER 14 CHAMPIONSHIPS with state teams from Victoria, Victorian Provincial, NSW, ACT-Territories, SA and WA competing.</p>

<p>This week the boys continued their tour around the states talking to each of the coach&#8217;s of the respective grand final champions. This week the caught up with the winners in NSW, Qld and SA.</p>
<p>First off Baseball Radio caught up with Stuart Hanrahan who is the coach of the NSW Major Grade champions Manly Warringah. Manly Warringah defeated Baulkham Hills in the best of 3 final series 2 games to 1. This was the first A grade flag in 31 years for Manly Warringah.</p>
<p>Next up, the boys caught up with Phil Overlack who is coach of the Qld Major Grade champions Indian Baseball Club. The Indians won the best of 3 final series 2 games to 1 and this was their first A Grade premiership in 7 years.</p>

First off Baseball Radio caught up with Stuart Hanrahan who is the coach of the NSW Major Grade champions Manly Warringah. Manly Warringah defeated Baulkham Hills in the best of 3 final series 2 games to 1. This was the first A grade flag in 31 years for Manly Warringah.

<p>On this weeks show Baseball Radio caught up the President of the Williamstown Wolves Michael Collins. Michael stepped the boys thru Wolves season and how they achieved their huge upset win in defeating the Springvale Lions for the Div 3 title.</p>
<p>Next up, the boys caught up with WA&#8217;s Shane Tonkin and they discussed the outcome of the grand finals matches in Western Australia. Shane was the winning coach of the Swan Districts Black Ducks who defeated the Wanneroo Giants 2-0 in the best of 3 State League Grand Final.</p>
<p>The boys were also able to catch up with the President of the Blackburn Orioles Bruce Dicker. The Orioles defeated the Malvern Braves 7-6 in the Baseball Victoria Div 1 competition. Bruce also spoke of how Blackburn had also won the BV Club Championship award for the 2nd season running which was highlighted by the fact that the Orioles have 11 teams, of the 11 teams 10 teams competed in their respective final series and of these 5 teams went on to claim their respective Grand Final.</p>

<p>After winning the 1st game of the series, 5-3, the Heat had their ace Mark Kelly on the mound in Games 2 and this would prove to be a decisive move as Kelly went on to pitch a complete game as the Heat wrapped up the series with a 4-0 win.</p>

<p>The boys also caught up with Queensland AAA (U18) coach Peter Dutton. Queensland defeated NSW 5-1 at this years championships in Perth.</p>
<p>Also on line this week, the boys caught up with Western Australian AA (U16) coach Geoff Dyer. WA defeated SA 12-2 at this years rain interrupted championships in Queensland.</p>
